Dr. Eric Edstrom came to Santa Barbara in 1990, when he joined the orthodontic practice of Drs. Laurence Abbey and Don Erb as a full partner.

Dr. Edstrom was born and raised on the frozen tundra of North Dakota.  He attended the University of North Dakota, where he was awarded membership in Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics.  He then earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at UCLA on a Regents Scholarship, an honor given to the top six incoming freshmen.  In his junior year, Dr. Edstrom received the William S. Kramer award from Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Dental Honor Society as the #1 student in his class.  He was given full membership in OKU his senior year.  Dr. Edstrom completed his orthodontic training at USC, receiving a Master of Science in Craniofacial Biology and a Certificate in Orthodontics.

Dr. Edstrom has been eager to share his knowledge with colleagues in the dental community.  He has given lectures to dentists, dental hygienists and physicians on some of the newest orthodontic techniques.

Invisalign has ranked both doctors in the top 3% of orthodontists across the United States.  They have been consecutively part of an elite group of Premier Invisalign Providers since 2005.  With this experience, they feel confident treating some of the most complicated bites with Invisalign.

Dr. Edstrom is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the California State Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and the Santa Barbara-Ventura County Dental Society.

In his free time, Dr. Edstrom enjoys cycling, hiking and spending time with family and friends.  He is eager to apply his knowledge and 20+ years of experience in orthodontics to the care of you or your loved one.

Dr Alex Trigonis, DDS MS

Dr. Alex Trigonis has been creating beautiful smiles and healthy bites in Santa Barbara alongside with Dr. Edstrom since 1992. He graduated at the top of his class from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 1989, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. He then continued his post-doctoral education at UCLA, obtaining a Masters of Science Degree in Oral Biology, and Certificates in both Orthodontics and Facial Orthopedics and Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Trigonis is one of very few dual-trained orthodontic specialists in the United States and abroad. The additional degree of training in Pediatric Dentistry offers insight into the early treatment needs of young patients. He is the only orthodontist in the Central Coast who has obtained this dual training.

Dr. Trigonis’ dedication to his patients and continued commitment to dental education have earned him recognition as a leader in his field. As a Premier Certified Invisalign® Specialist, he also enjoys educating his colleagues in the dental community. He has been invited to speak to local dentists and hygienists about the latest developments and treatments in orthodontics.

Dr. Trigonis and his wife, Alexandra, enjoy spending their free time swimming, exercising, reading, being active in their church, hiking in the beautiful local mountains, traveling and spending time in the outdoors. It is especially fun for them to bump into patients while doing these activities!
